Baby, It's Cold Outside

Around the time we started dinner, it started getting really freakin' cold. As in my San Francisco ass, accustomed to wearing jeans and a t-shirt in most chilly weather, is now clad in as much wool as humanly possible.

As an additional measure to stay warm, we're huddled around the HDTV in the front "living room" (at least, that's the configuration with the walls/doors in the current position), staving off hypothermia with this, our Japanese central heating system:

Ah, a big ceramic urn full of coals! Want heat in another room? Move the urn! Light up some more coals!

Seriously, I'm not kidding. That's how we heat the house.
